It’s hard to tell from a website photo if a chip is quality or not. You can’t hold it, look closely, or weigh it. For example, look at the photo below. Besides the slight difference in design, can you tell the difference between the good quality and the poor quality chip?
It really is difficult to tell. But there are some obvious design flaws in most suited design chips (suited is the most popular type of chip) that we can point out. The poor quality chip is the one on the left, and is the one sold most everywhere. They are mass produced in overseas factories that have little or no quality control programs in place. These chips have flooded the market, and are the ones sold by most online poker supply companies. The chip on the right is our Royal Suited Chip. These chips are produced under strict quality control standards and are by far the highest quality suited chip design on the market today. We have provided close-ups comparisons of both club designs. Be sure to look carefully at the club design when looking for chips. This is the easiest way to identify the low quality chip, and will give you an idea of the quality standards of the poker chip supplier.
 | Poor Definition in Design – Note the overall shape of the club on this chip. The detail is weak, and the club has a “flattened” look. This is due to low quality craftsmanship in the creation of the chip mold. | | Excellent Definition in Design – Note how detailed the club shape is in our Dynasty Chip design vs. the other chip. | | Inclusions in design – Note black impurities in the white of the club design. This is the result of poor manufacturing standards. | | Clean Design – No inclusions in the white of the club design vs. the other chip. |
Dice Poker Chip Comparison Once again, the low quality dice poker chip design is on the left.
 | Poor Quality Dice Poker Chip - Instead of being ivory white, this chip has an overall blue tint. The blue plastic of the design has migrated into the white areas of the chip. This is most noticeable where the white meets the blue design. | | Our Classic Dice Poker Chip - Note the clean ivory white chip color and the sharp edge between the blue design and the white part of the chip. |
